As soon as I arrived in the US in Philadelphia I wrote to Ray Lin who kindly agreed to host me in his house and let him know that I arrived in the US.
From Philadelphia after all the control were behind me I transfered into terminal F and flew to the La Guardia (LGA) airport in New York.
The flight takes only 20 minutes.
The airplanes are really little and the flight I was on was full. All the seats were filled. And the airplane jokingly named by me and a neighbor in the seat near me Airbus was really like a bus in the air.
Upon arrival in the airport I called Ray and after some time he came, picked me up and took me to his house.
I was well covered for two nights.
I slept in the basement and had my own sleeping room, a dining room with a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a shower.
Thanks to the CS and Ray I had a pleasant stay for the first two nights.
Having spent the first whole day in NYC and kind of got the initial orientation in the city, bought ticket to Stamford and on Sunday the 10th June I went there, where I had a hotel reservation in a hotel called Amsterdam.
The hotel where the event took place was Sheraton and it was 50$ more expensive even with a discounted rate than the hotel I stayed in.
Unfortunately I left my driving license at home (I simply forgot it in the wallet) and hence I couldn’t rent a car and discover different removed areas.
Just about 50 meters away from the Amsterdam hotel there was Enterprise car rental office where I could’ve rented a car.
I like walking. It’s a good exercise and while you’re walking you can discover the areas around you and a more detailed scale.
I walked in different public and residential areas close to the water.
I discovered and checked out two parks in Stamford: Cummings Park and Cove Island Park. Both of them are nice and both of them have access to the water.
The Cove Island Park is slightly bigger and I guess, is more popular, as a got to see it.
Stamford has some good restaurants, which are mainly located in the downtown area.
There is a good Italian restaurant in the Cove Island Park area and there was another one not so far away from the Amsterdam hotel.
The restaurant in Sheraton hotel was OK as well, however a bit expensive in comparison to some other restaurants in the downtown area.
In the main shopping mal of Stamford town – “Stamford town centre” there are also couple of good and affordable restaurants.
Such as this one:
In the shopping mal was a variety of different shops from shoes and clothing to books and perfumes.
